With his new album, Based on a true storyWill Smith is rebellious about his infamous Chris Rock’s Oscar slap and has tackled the case with multiple songs.
The opening track for the project, “Int. Barbershop – Day,” is a skit with a chorus of voices that share different opinions with the actor and rapper rumors, such as “Will Smith has been cancelled” and “I’m not going to forgive him what he did.”
A voice later said, “I heard he won the Oscars, but he had to return it.” Another chime said, “And you know you just let him do that shit because he’s black.”

In the second track, “Are you looking for me?”, Smith boasts about his comeback by wrapping.
As a reviewer, Rock announced the winner of the best documentary feature after joking about Pinkett Smith’s hair at the 2022 Oscars. This led Smith to walk onto the stage and hit the lock with his open hand.
