More than 2 years later Westworld It was cancelled, and series star Aaron Paul hopes the show will return to its fifth and final season.
Created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, Westworld was a huge success on HBO in October 2016, earning positive reviews from critics and fans, making it the first most viewed season of the HBO original series at the time. The series is based on a 1973 Michael Criton film and set up Westworld, a fictional, technically advanced wildwest-themed amusement park that is home to Android, known primarily as the “host.” The final two seasons have transformed the series’ setting into a real world, revealing that people’s lives are driven and controlled by powerful artificial intelligence.
What did Aaron Paul say about Westworld Season 5?
Paul, who joined the Westworld cast in season 3 as Caleb Nichols, recently told ComicBook.com that Nolan has revealed to him how the show should end. “I’m still holding back (hope). I have a very wide stroke. (co-creator Jonathan Nolan) filled me a bit,” he shared. “We’re still planning on doing something. I don’t want anyone’s hope, but we really want to have a full circle moment with it, so we’ll see.”
The cancellation of Westworld in November 2022 was considered a shock from that fandom. Despite later seasons, there were more mixed reviews and reduced viewers from critics, but HBO most hoped that Nolan and Joy would have given them the opportunity to see the story in their terms.
Nolan previously spoke about his intention to close the ambitious Westworld tale in April 2024, saying, “Yes, 100%. We are perfectionists. It took eight years to create Interstellar, and the director was changed. I want to finish the story we started.”
He continued. I’m very proud of what we’ve made. It was an extraordinary experience. Looking back, I think it’s a mistake to just feel regret (about how that ended). But there is still a huge desire to finish it. ”
Westworld is currently available for streaming on Tubi.
