Wendy Williams’ Guardian fights back

Morrissey’s lawyers stressed that the guardian was not her decision, but was ordered by a judge after Williams was declared legally neutralised last August.
The verdict followed the 2023 diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a degenerative condition that leads to decreased cognition and behavior. The lawyers also acknowledged that FTD causes progressive amnesia and strengthens concerns about Williams’ condition.
He also noted that the former talk show host receives the highest level of care in a facility with “spas, training rooms, great food, dining rooms and outdoor terraces.”

Despite these reassurances, Williams has been seeking change. Her lawyer reportedly tried to close guardianship last year, but the request was denied. However, Morrissey’s lawyers confirmed that she was free to try again, and that Williams was actively doing so.
TMZ reports in a letter from her lawyer that Williams has not been isolated from her family and is able to reach out or visit at any time.
The lawyer emphasized that “false statements about Williams, her condition and guardianship and Mr. Williams and her interests and undermines the protections made by the court for her health and welfare.”

The Guardian statement differs from previous TV personality comments

Her Guardian lawyers claim Williams has full access to the gorgeous amenities of her family and her New York facility, but the 60-year-old is said to be talking about something else. Reports say she has claimed that visitors have been mostly restricted, with only a few exceptions, since she entered a supportive life.
The Guardian pointed out that Williams traveled twice to Florida to see her family, but sources revealed that the judge first refused to visit her father for his birthday.
Beyond the issues of visiting, Williams also argues that he rarely enjoys perks mentioned in lawyer letters such as Spa. She reportedly cannot leave the memory care unit on the fifth floor without special permission and cannot limit her ability to access these amenities.

The lawyer’s letter acknowledged the effects of frontotemporal dementia. Still, it was noted that Williams sounded sharply and consistent, failing to address multiple conversations that raised questions about the seriousness of her condition.

Agents investigate guardianship of former talk show hosts as concerns grow

Blast reports that New York officials have launched two separate investigations into Williams’ protection. As part of the probe, Adult Protective Services (APS) recently interviewed her mother about her living conditions at a support facility in New York.
The AP also contacted her inner circle, including her nie, Alex Finney, to question the restrictions imposed on her under her protection.
As part of the investigation, law enforcement conducted a welfare check on Williams. The NYPD police car was reportedly found outside her residence Monday morning, indicating an official response to ongoing concerns.
Reports suggest that through her inner circle, Williams is pushing the authorities and the Associated Press to look into guardianship arrangements in detail.
Williams’ Guardianship Battle inspires proposed laws to help other families

The controversy surrounding Williams’ protection sparked more than just public debate. This led to driving legislative change.
Blast previously reported that New York Sen. Anthony Palumbo had proposed a new bill to allow families to maintain connections with loved ones under guardianship.
The proposed law, called “Killyn’s Law,” allows relatives to petition the court for the right to visit. Once the claim is filed, parents will spend 10 days to present reasons why they are not allowed access to their families.
If the court finds their arguments unconvincing, relatives are given the right to visit. Palumbo emphasized that the law creates legal pathways for families to maintain contact with individual parents.

Wendy Williams’ guardian sparked anger

Williams’ concerns about happiness later reached new heights as a nasty video of a former radio host emerged from inside a care facility in New York.
The clip quickly goes viral, with Williams standing by the window, talking on the phone, appearing to be in agony. At one point, she seems to ask someone who is apparently looking for help.
The footage appeared shortly after Williams reported living on the fifth floor of the Memory Care Unit facility.
People close to Williams reportedly rebeled against the need for such restrictions, claiming that she would not suffer from amnesia and should not be confined to the unit.
With contradictory narratives and formal investigations underway, Wendy Williams’ fight for autonomy only intensifies.
