(Editor’s Note: Included below Spoilers Through the season 3 finale White lotus“I love Fatay.”))
I just gave lots of thoughts about the characters I want to see the most White lotus Season 3 finale… It’s hard to feel at least a bit offended by the events of “Amorufati.” Needless to say I was disappointed by the lack of depth found in the conclusion.
If you’re looking and just want to know how many bodies you have, here’s what you’re going to go: Jim (Scott Glenn), Jim’s two bodyguards, Rick (Walton Goggins), and oh, no Chelsea (Amy Loowood). They all died in a shootout that was teased at the opening of the season premiere. It started with Rick unable to let go of his anger over Jim’s supposed crimes against his father.

The two bodyguards are killed by Rick after Rick steals Jim’s gun and Chelsea catches a single stray in Crossfire’s mind. Bringing things close is Geitok (Taim Tapchinson), who shot Rick in the back as the man carried Chelsea’s body off for help. Rick, in a way, did something good in the end with his breakfast promise. He and Chelsea were together forever. Forever, that is, for all they left.
While it clearly didn’t go well with all the characters above the finale (Save Gaitok), creator/writer/director Mike White couldn’t resist giving the rest of the surviving ensemble a relatively happy ending. Gaitok shoots an unarmed man in the back and rewards him with a flexible new job as a driver for Sritala (Lek Patravadi) with the respect and love of Mook (Blackpink’s Lisa). Our girls’ travel trio did not precisely push the toxic issues that overwhelm the friendship, but after a lovely speech from Laurie (Carrie Coon), they reconcile. Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) and her son Sion (Nicolas Duvernei) have successfully negotiated a $5 million payment from Gary/Greg (John Grease). The Russians fled. And, oh, Ratriff…
With the end of this season reaching the end, it’s time to declare that out of all the storylines of this season, Ratliff was at the heart of the worst. Not because of the lines intersected in the name of brotherhood, but because of Tim’s (Jason Isaac)’s continued co-illness, it was revealed by his resolve to bring murderous suicide out of his legal troubles.
Finally, the writing strengthened things to the point of satire. Last day,” Pam the Porter (Morgana O’Reilly) tells Tim. Literally, Tim explains what fruit he has from a tree called “The Suicide Tree.”. Oh, and as part of that explanation, she mentions How to prepare seeds from that suicide tree for the purpose of suicide.
Ah, but it’s not just suicide. Tim saves Rochran (Sam Nibola) as a special Pina Colada is planning toast for the whole family that night. (Perhaps Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) has made his mother’s dream come true after spending the night in the monastery, and perhaps he doesn’t follow Rochlan as he has embraced the corrupt princess, but Tim didn’t know about it.)
The tension is constant, but worsening. White drags out all the beats of this story, leaving the fateful blender washed at the counter, ready and waiting for Rochlan to become a smoothie the next morning. (Chekhov’s blender, if so.) White even teases Rochlan’s fate for quite some time, revealing that he survived after the flexion of Chelsea’s death. And there’s the catharsis that comes from that choice – if both Rochlan and Chelsea were chewing it, it would have been rough – but it still feels like a waste of time with all the subtle, painful beats that precede Rochlan’s survival.
Whether it’s due to Lochlan’s near-death experience or the simple fact that he couldn’t avoid it anymore, Ratliff’s storyline ends with them all reuniting with their devices. Whether they actually Of course, your family is a completely different question, so get through things. How fast do you think Victoria (Parker Posey) divorces his ass? I’m going to say to meet my own need for catharsis. immediately.
The finale may have been 87 minutes long, but with a lot of screen time being dedicated to dragging out some of these storylines, we were able to get in with a clear shorter length. And even at its length it doesn’t feel like the white really has moved around I’m saying Something with episodes – or the whole season.
Back to 2022, the creators said that Season 3 of the series could “be a satirical and entertaining view of death and Eastern religions and spirituality.” Here lip service was paid for some of it, but “if you finally accept that there is no solution, you’ll be more likely to be patient,” the first monk in the episode feels more like a cocky nod to the audience than a spiritual insight.
Aside from the fact that even in the purest mind of all of us, what have we learned about death? There’s nothing to note. Just as brought life to life by this season’s remarkable ensemble, White’s skill in crafting a wide range of singular characters is undoubtedly a major factor in the show’s talk. However, the overall experience felt shallower than worthy of this ensemble.
