Prior to CBS’s 2025-2026 schedule, the network updated nine shows. Among them are NCIS and its two spinoffs, Origins and Sydney. Additionally, the firefighting state and its spinoff, the Sheriff’s State, were also undergoing renewed treatment. Unfortunately, the network has x its third long-term series SWAT. That star, Shemar Moore, responded quickly to the cancellation and asked Netflix to save the show.
CBS has a history of going back and forth about whether or not to continue updating SWAT. Following the LAPD team, everything was smooth sailing for six seasons. Then, in May 2023, CBS decided that Season 6 would be their last. However, with a twist on the event, the network announced that season 7 would actually be the final season of SWAT in a few days.
In April 2024, CBS changed their minds again and renewed its eighth season of action drama series. In the past, the network, Sony Pictures TV, and CBS Studios have won license fees to avoid two cancellations. This caused the TV to restart and run. However, it appears that the third life of the series will not be revived. CBS confirmed yesterday that SWAT’s season 8 will be its last.
What did Shemar Moore say about cancelling Swat?
Shemar Moore had a long history not only with SWAT, but also with CBS networks in general. His roles in shows like Criminal Minds and The Young and the Restless forced the actor to look back at a “new chapter” of his life. On Instagram’s reel, Moore expressed his disappointment at cancelling the show and proposed the idea for a revival.
“Hey Netflix, how are you? In a very short period, let me remind you of it once before. A little while ago, it only took about two weeks to go from 15 to 15. Then I stayed in the top 10-15 for about six months, nine months, a year. Netflix is interested in shows on autopilot that the world is watching, we want to play. NBC, Fox, ABC, hey, do you want to flirt with me? You’re invited to a barbecue. Choose your favorite restaurant. Accounts are paid by me.”
Netflix saved previously cancelled shows. Fan favorite series like Lucifer, Designated Survivor, Arrested Development won x by the network. The streaming service then gave fans hope and regained them. Hopefully the same applies to SWAT. You can see Shemar Moore’s Instagram reels below.
Keep watching the CBS series SWAT every Friday at 8pm.
