Tanisha faces new obstacles in her case, which arises weeks after a Los Angeles Superior Court judge denied an urgent request to step down Nipesy’s brother. Court documents revealed that the judge opposed Tanisha’s petition, saying:

Tanisha revealed in her legal submission that she first agreed to allow Nipesy’s family to guardianize her daughter Emmani after the artist’s tragic death, believing this decision was in her daughter’s greatest interest.
However, after years of legal struggle over guardianship, Tanisha filed a petition in 2022 to end it. She cited financial difficulties and expressed her strong desire to provide Emmani with the stable lifestyle she had before Nipesy’s death.
Additionally, Tanisha claimed she received verbal assurances from Nipesi’s family that she prioritizes her daughter’s welfare. Tanisha also expressed her dissatisfaction with what she believes is a broken promise regarding her relationship with her daughter.
In her petition, she accused Nipesy’s family of using their wealth and influence to limit her visitation rights and financial support, making it increasingly difficult for her to become involved in Emmani’s life.
Tanisha highlighted her desire to regain Emmani’s primary parental role, and noted that Emmani often asks whether she can live together.
She appealed to the court to terminate her existing guardianship, saying there is no situation in her life that should be disqualified from being with her daughter.

Nipsey’s sister, Samantha Smith, questioned Tanisha’s ability to properly parent Emani
The fight for Nipsey’s daughter was not a single relationship for his family. Aside from his brother, his sister played an active role in fighting for Emmani’s guardianship.
Samantha originally began the filing process on behalf of her family after expressing concerns about Tanisha’s ability to raise children, becoming Emmani’s legal guardian.
In her application, she highlighted Emmani’s strong commitment to welfare and the importance of maintaining Emmani’s connection with Nipesy’s family. Samantha aims to provide Emmani with a safe and stable home environment.
This demand was met with strong resistance from Nipsey’s Ex-Girlfriend, but when Nipsey’s family decided the victory, she ultimately lost the fight. In October 2019, the judge officially appointed them as Emmani’s legal guardians.

The family recorded another victory in Nipesy’s case when his murderer, Eric Holder Jr., was eventually found guilty in July 2022 of first-degree murder of two fathers.
As The Blast pointed out, the late rapper and holder reportedly had Rollin ’60s, a member of the same gang. However, Hustl became a well-known activist who opposed gun violence and influential figures in his neighborhood.
A Los Angeles court ultimately sentenced the shooter to life in February 2023 to 60 years in prison.
He was also convicted of two counts of voluntary manslaughter that caused harm to his two bystanders when attacking the “Victory Rap” rapper.
The late rapper’s friend also reads an emotional speech, and the court said H. Before Clay Jacquet declared his decision, he read a letter from the owner’s father.
