Mike Flanagan carry The TV show was officially green light.
Known for creating Netflix shows such as The Haunting of Hill House in 2018 and Midnight Mass in 2021, Flanagan is currently working on the adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie at Amazon MGM Studios.
At each deadline, the series received official green lights. Flanagan will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer, leading some of the episodes.

The show has a total of eight episodes. Hunter x Hunter Summer H. Howell is in negotiations to play Carrie on the show, and Resident Evil’s Siena Agdon is getting attention for playing her enemy, Sue Snell.
“Carrie is said to be a rethinking of the story of Misfit high school student Carrie White. He spent his life in isolation with her dominant mother,” reads Deadline’s plot description. “After her father’s sudden death, Carrie finds herself countering the challenges of attending high school, the bullying scandal and the emergence of mystical telekinetic power.”
Trevor Macy will be Carrie’s executive producer along with Flanagan.
“Carry is an iconic story that stood the test of time with continued cultural relevance,” says Vernon Sanders of Amazon MGM Studios. “This provocative series, with Mike Flanagan at the helm and a skilled team, including executive producer Trevor Macy, is sure to captivate our global customers.”
King’s Carrie novel was published in 1974. It has been transformed into a 1976 film. The film directed by Brian De Palma, starring Sissy Spacek, Amy Irving played Sue Snell and Piper Laurie portrayed Carrie’s mother, Margaret. It was followed by a 2002 TV film directed by David Carson and a 2013 remake starring Chloe Grace Moretz.
Carrie’s premiere date has not been announced yet.
