A friend of the late musician announced her intention to dismiss the honor loss lawsuit against Liam’s father, Jeff Payne, months after his death.

Liam Payne sadly passed away on October 16th, 2024 due to a accidental fall from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After the incident, five individuals were charged in connection with his death, three of whom were subsequently exempt from fraud.

Liam’s friend decides to stop the defamation lawsuit against Liam’s father, Jeff. Roger filed legal documents on Wednesday to dismiss the lawsuit, saying he wanted to go ahead and focus on more productive issues.

He dismissed the lawsuit without bias and showed that it could be reconsidered in the future, but he has expressed that he has no intention of taking any further action.

Roger initially sued Jeff in January, claiming that old Payne had issued a statement of honor and loss in the media after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires and continuing the tragic death of Liam in October.

A key point in the argument was Jeff’s claim that Roger was responsible for caring for Liam at the time. Roger firmly denied it.

Initially, he planned to donate a potential prize from the lawsuit to Bear, Liam’s son, but TMZ confirmed that he now wants to close this chapter and move forward.

The explosion shared in February that the court had exempt Roger and two hotel employees from manslaughter charges related to Liam’s tragic death.

An autopsy confirmed previously that the singer had a mixture of fatal substances in his system when he fell off his balcony after it became the night of drug use.

The verdict was in favor of Roger and hotel staff, including security chief Gilda Martin, who was accused of Liam’s best friend and receptionist Esteban Grasi.

In a statement to Rolling Stone after the verdict, Roger expressed his relief, saying that he was pleased with the closing in the end and could now travel to the UK and say goodbye to the artist.

Roger’s lawyer, Rafael Cuneo Livarona, also expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision, reiterating that his client is not liable for Liam’s death. The lawyer emphasized that he is merely a friend who has no legal obligation to ensure the singer’s safety.

The court previously held that there was no evidence of negligence or recklessness on the part of the hotel staff regarding the events that led to Liam’s death.

For a while, Roger had maintained a close friendship with the late singer, consistently denied responsibility for the tragedy, claiming that Argentine authorities had unfairly targeted him as a “scapegoat.”

He emphasized that he visited the hotel three times on the day of the incident and left 40 minutes before it happened, noting that he chatted and joked with Liam when more than 15 people left in the lobby.

“I might not have imagined something like this would happen,” Roger said. He claimed he was not a singer’s manager, but a very dear friend.

As shared by The Blast, a report from the National Criminal and Correctional Public Prosecutor’s Office No. 14 revealed details surrounding the tragic death of Late One Direction Star Liam. He consumes a significant amount of alcohol, with blood alcohol concentrations of 2.7 grams per liter, equivalent to 0.27%.

According to Allice.org, this level is dangerously high and often leads to severe symptoms such as confusion and disorientation. If his BAC escalates to more than 0.3%, it could have led to alcoholism, and levels reaching 0.4% are known to be potentially fatal.

In addition to alcohol, toxicological testing revealed that Liam has a variety of drugs in his system, including cocaine and its metabolites, cracks, ketamine and the drug sertraline. This mixture of substances indicates that the nasty cocktail may have contributed to his premature end.

Earlier this month, the report cited concerns about Liam’s mental health until his painful death. It is revealed that his father, Jeff, had sought Liam’s professional help for his troublesome behavior.

In early 2024, Liam was said to be in “fragile condition” and was later checked by a Spanish rehabilitation facility. The move coincided with the release of his last single, “Teardrops.”

Unfortunately, Liam vacated the treatment center before completing treatment for unspecified reasons. This turned out to be harmful. Just a few weeks later, he reportedly recurred, prompting his father to try and secure admission to the psychiatric treatment centre.
