Jason Ritter joins the cast lanthanum.
Lanterns is the upcoming DCU series from DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television. The show is co-written by Chris Mandy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King. Kyle Chandler sees Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre portraying John Stewart, and Kelly McDonald also plays a sheriff character named Kelly.
Who is Jason Ritter playing with the lantern?
According to Jeff Snyder’s “Insnyder,” Ritter is cast as the husband of a McDonald’s character. For now, details remain under the wrap. It is noteworthy, however, that a Hollywood reporter described Sheriff Kelly as “a pointless woman who devoted deep to her family and close towns” when McDonald was cast.
Ritter was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award in 2012 and was nominated for portrayal of Mark Cyr on Parenthood. He has also appeared in television shows such as Joan of Arcadia, The Event, Gravity Falls, Girls, Ken (Presumably Save the World), and Raising Dion.
Meanwhile, his films include Freddie vs. Jason in 2003, W. in 2008, The Perfect Family in 2011, Meddler in 2015, and Frozen II in 2019.
The Lanterns logline reads: “The series follows John Stewart of the new recruit and Hal Jordan of the Lantern legend, two intergalactic policemen drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate murders in America’s Heartland.”
In addition to the aforementioned cast, the Lanterns stars Garrett Dirahunt as a modern cowboy called William Macon, Poona Jagannatan as a woman named Zoe, Nicole Ali Parker as John Stewart’s mother, and Ulrich Thomsen as the malicious Sinsettro. The first two episodes of the series are directed by James Hawese. James Haase is executive producer alongside Lindelof, King and Mandy.
The lantern’s HBO premiere date has not yet been announced, but the show is expected to arrive at some point in 2026.
