This strategic move follows a rising conflict over items allegedly belonging to her late husband. Pickler is fighting for a summon sent by Jacobs’ parents, Reid and Sharon, after Pickler declined the role first.
The summons called for a long list of possessions, ranging from Rolex and unusual guitars to samurai swords and even baseball cards. To her contact, Pickler argued that many of the items were not her property or that “what rights, titles, and possessions are in dispute.”

She also revealed that Jacobs’ parents robbed her of several items from her home after he died without giving her a record of what they had filmed.

In a fierce response to Pickler’s recent legal application, Reed and Sharon fought back, claiming that Pickler and her legal team provided an inconsistent statement about the location of some personal items belonging to their deceased son.
“(Kelley) and her attorney provide conflicting information regarding the location and legitimate ownership of the listed items, and (Kelley) acknowledges that some (Kyle) items of property are in possession, as stated here,” the couple said in court documents.
Pickler claimed he had never received a clear list of what was filmed, but Jacobs’ parents retorted that she had actually invited them to her home after his death, and even had items that had been pre-packed into the garage for them to gather.

The 38-year-old enlisted John I. Harris of Shulman, Leroy and Bennett.
According to his law firm profile, Harris brings a unique edge to the courtroom, a specialist in firearms law. This is a notable skill set considering the nature of real estate warfare, including a dispute over Jacobs’ gun collection.
His resume also includes representing clients in real estate planning, business litigation and medical negligence cases.
A Vanderbilt University alumnus, Harris has been practicing law since 1986 and is known for tackling complex cases, including second amendments and regulatory disputes with alcohol, cigarettes and firearms.

The singer fought a step-in-law summon
On March 28, Pickler filed court documents requesting the judge block her previous in-laws subpoena. The explosion reported that the actress, contrary to her request, claimed that the subpoena was not a valid court order and that she should not be under emptied.
She argued for her disagreement over the fact that her late husband’s belongings belonged to a civil court rather than probate. In the motion, Pickler accused the couple of trying to avoid appropriate legal channels to control the disputed property.
She alleged that the subpoena placed an unreasonable request on her, requiring that bulky and potentially dangerous items such as firearms, gun safety and grand pianos be transported to the law firm in a short period of time.
