John Lithgow re- portrays Arthur Mitchell or Trinity Killer in Dexter’s spinoff series Dexter: Resurrection. Jimmy Smitz, who played Adamiguel Prado in the original show, will also recreate his role in the upcoming sequel series.
Jimmy returns with Smitz: John Lithgow to reprise his role in Dexter
John Lithgow and Jimmy Smitt have been confirmed to re-start their respective roles from Dexter’s original Dexter series: revival, deadline reported. Smitz’s Miguel Prado appeared in season 3 of Dexter and was one of the two major antagonists of the season along with Jesse Borrego’s George King. Meanwhile, Lithgow’s Arthur Mitchell, or Trinity Killer, appeared in Dexter’s fourth season and served as its main antagonist.
In particular, both characters should be dead in Dexter’s main timeline. It is unclear how Prado will be used in the resurrection, but he could be part of Michael C. Hall’s Dexter Morgan’s troubling past quest.
As for Arthur, Lithgow suggested that he would make a cameo appearance in his resurrection. The 79-year-old actor told Variety earlier this month. “They are rebooting the entire Michael C. Hall version of Dexter, and it turns out he didn’t die in the end. I’m back like a phantom.
Additionally, it is reportedly under development that a first-part spinoff series revolves around a younger version of Trinity Killer. Mitchell’s appearance in the resurrection could set it.
Beyond the original series, Mitchell made a brief appearance in a flashback scene for the limited series Dexter: New Blood. Additionally, the younger version of Prado, depicted by Nick Santucci, appeared in Dexter’s second spinoff, Dexter: The Original Sin.
Dexter aired eight seasons on Showtime from October 1, 2006 to September 22, 2013. Ten episodes of New Blood aired from November 7, 2021 to January 9, 2022. Dexter: The revival will be announced on Paramount+ at Showtime in the summer of 2025.
