How Daredevil: Born Again Sets up Ms. Marvel’s Young Avengers/Champions Team

Daredevil: Born again Episode 5 is currently streaming on Disney+, and people are wondering if it hints at the Ms. Marvel’s (Iman Vellani) Young Avengers team. Kamala’s father Yusuf Khan (Mohan Kapoor) appears in this episode as an assistant bank manager who gently denied Matt (Charlie Cox)’s loan request. However, Matt admits that this is the “niceest no” he still received. In their conversation, Yusuf appears to be making fun of the young Avengers, referring to Kamala and her current location.

Daredevil’s Fifth Episode: Born again with the title “Interested,” Matt visits a bank named New York Mutual and seeks loans to fund the rapid expansion of Murdoch & McDuffy. Yusuf works there as an assistant manager. During their conversation, Yusuf’s phone makes a fuss. He picks it up and apologizes to Matt for interrupting their conversation. Yusuf reveals that it is his daughter Kamala who is in California.

This is probably a continuation of the Young Avengers setup that began with 2023 superhero Marvel. In the final scene of the film, Haley Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop returns home to find Kamala. In the scene, a throwback to the first meeting of Robert Downey Jr. Tony Stark and Nick Fury of Iron Man in 2008, Kamala asks Kate if the latter thinks she is the only child superhero in the world. When Kate points out that she is 23, Kamala assures her that she knows and that she is reading her. Kamala declares that Kate has just become part of the larger universe. She says she’s putting the team together and asks Kate to join in.

Kamala also mentions Kathy Lang of Scott Lang, daughter of Kathryn Newton. I know that Cathy lives in San Francisco at the moment. The reason Kamala is in California could be to recruit Kathy for the Young Avengers. While the team has not been confirmed to be part of the MCU’s vast plans, some of its members have already debuted in the franchise, with Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige talking about “the possibility of being infinite” while dealing with the subject.
