HBO has finally announced a regular in the first series. Harry Potter Cast for the highly anticipated series adaptation of JK Rowling’s beloved children’s fantasy novel. Production is expected to begin this year
The series is described as a “10 Years Long” project, with each season expected to adapt one book to Rowling’s acclaimed book series. At this time, casting searches for the next Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley are still underway in the UK and Ireland. The chosen child actor must be between 9 and 11 years old by the time the show begins filming.
Who is in the cast of Harry Potter?
Set as regulars in the series on the Harry Potter show, Golden Globe recipients John Lithgow (Crown) and Janet McTrump (Tumbleweed) have officially played alongside major Hogwarts faculty members as well as Emmy nominee Papa Echedew (London gang) and Bifa nominee Nick Frost (Shawn of the Down). Lithgow, Mcteer, Essiedu and Frost have been cast as fan-favorite characters Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, Severus Snape and Rubeus Hagrid respectively. Additionally, Luke Talon (now the Laughter) and Paul Whitehouse (First Show) were tapped to portray the recurring roles of Cirinus Quirrell and Argus Filch, who are also part of Hogwarts staff.
The HBO adaptation was created by showrunner Francesca Gardiner (Killing Eve, inheritance), executives created and directed by Mark Mylod. It becomes a faithful adaptation of the beloved Harry Potter book series, featuring an exciting and talented cast to lead a new generation of fandom. Executive producers are MyLod, Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts and longtime Harry Potter franchise producer David Heyman. It is a production by HBO related to Bronte films and television and Warner Bros. television.
