Friday the 13th Prequel Series Crystal Lake Casts Linda Cardellini, Character Revealed

Crystal Lake comes from showrunner Blood Kaleb Kane (that’s: Welcome to Delhi). Before that, Hannibal’s Brian Fuller was originally tapped to become the showrunner for the series that was released in 2022. Fuller left the project in May 2024.

According to Jeff Snyder’s “Insnyder,” Caldelini is currently gaining attention for playing Jason’s mother, Pamela Voorhees, on Crystal Lake. Sneider said Cardellini “is likely to be difficult to refuse,” but the deal was not formally announced or completed.

Cardellini is known for playing Velma Dinkley in Marvel Cinematic’s universe with Scooby-Doo in 2002 and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed and Laura Barton in 2004. She starred as Lindsay Weir in Freak and Geek and recently appeared as Margo Starling in Netflix’s No Good Deeds.

Cardellini’s filmography also includes Leglally Blonde in 2001, Brokeback Mountain in 2005, Simple Above in 2018 in 2010, The Curse of La Llorona in 2019, and most recently The Nutcracker in 2024.

Details of the Crystal Lake plot are still wrapped at this time. Kane will be executive produced alongside Victor Miller, Mark Toberov, Robert M. Balsamian and Robert P. Balsamian.

“From the moment I saw Jason Voorhees squeeze a man’s eyeball out of his socket at a soft age of eight, I knew my creative path would one day be destined to gather with the man behind the mask,” Kane said in a statement. “Nothing defines my childhood more than growing up in the golden age of Thrasherflic. Nothing defines the genre more than Friday the 13th.

The date for Crystal Lake’s premiere has not been announced yet.
