Netflix shares the official Forever A trailer for the latest arriving drama based on Judy Blume’s 1975 classic novel “The same name.” The series is scheduled to debut on May 8, 2025.
“I’m excited that Mara has chosen to tell this story through her lens,” Bloom said in a statement. “It’s nice to know that 50 years after its release, the eternal core love story still resonates with the audience.”

In this video, teenagers Keisha and Justin become each other’s first love. Emphasise the challenges they face when they try to fight for their relationship. The show will be executive producer by Oscar winner Regina King and led by Rovie Simone (Cera and Spade) and Michael Cooper Jr. (Come Up).
“Set in 2018 in Los Angeles, the series follows the epic love story of two black teenagers exploring romance and identity through a troubling journey of being each other’s first,” the official logline reads.
Forever is written and created by showrunner Mara Brock Ali. Cast also includes Karen Pittman, Wood Harris, Xosha Roquemore, Marvin Winans III, Niles Fitch, Barry Shabaka Henley, Ali Gallo, Adriyan Rae, Paigion Walker, Xavier Mills, E’myri Crutchfield, and Yusef Thomas. He is an executive produced by Brock Ali, Bloom, Susie Fitzgerald, Erica Harrison, Sarah White, Reina King, Shana C. Waterman and Anthony Hemingway.
“I always believe in Judy Bloom as part of my voice condiment as a writer,” Brock Aquill said. “She was one of the first writers I read and was honest about the human condition of young people, so I can see traces of her writing style. I am honored to be able to reconsider one of my favorite books forever.”
King said, “Judy Bloom’s ability to capture the real emotions we experience in the various rituals of young people’s passage has influenced my life choices and writing voices.”
