The landlord filed a lawsuit after failing attempts to contact Offset and the Grammy Award winner

The landlord also claimed that the estranged couple had left significant property damage after vacating the residence. Reported damages include permanent stains and scratches on limestone tile floors, damaged rugs and curtains, and colored paint on white leather furniture.
It also contains burn marks on various surfaces, broken furniture and speakers, and excessive holes and marks on the walls.

However, Offset and his company, Sallie Smith LLC, denied all allegations of fraud in relation to their lease agreement. They argue that certain parts of the contract are merciless and that other terms were obtained through obsession and fraud.
In response to the dispute with the landlord, Offset’s company filed a countersuit and claimed it had agreed to first pay $35,000 a month for a luxurious five-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion covering 8,535 square feet in Beverly Hills.
But they alleged that at one point, the landlord demanded an increase in rent at $45,000 a month.

The musicians also alleged that the landlord had failed to repair the dangerous measures, resulting in the injury to his relatives.
According to Offset, when he requested repairs, the landlord refused and suggested that he could vacate the property if he refused to waive the claim related to the injury instead.
In the lawsuit, Offset said he felt compelled to follow the landlord’s request, especially given his busy work schedule and his wife Cardi’s responsibility as a parent of young children, as freeing up property would have pose a major challenge.
In June 2023, Offset finally decided to leave the house after raising rent to $75,000 a month. Offset’s company also noted that the landlord did not provide empirical evidence of alleged damages.
Instead, the landlord accused them of not returning the $35,000 deposit belonging to Sally Smith. However, the case is expected to be resolved once the parties finalise their settlement agreement.

The estranged couple was named in a non-payment lawsuit during their divorce last year

Last year, ex-lovers found themselves in the middle of a lawsuit brought by the mansion’s owner. As reported by The Blast, the lawsuit allegedly said the two used their property to film the music video without consent or compensation.
The owner claims that the gorgeous Beverly Hills Mansion featured in the music video for “with what” released in March was used without permission.
Offset directed the music video for Cardi’s song, but he and Cardi may have taken shortcuts together with the team to secure a filming mansion.
The property owner claimed that representatives of the estranged couple informed him that their nameless client was interested in filming Tiktok’s videos at the location. The homeowners unfortunately allowed Cardi and Offset to use their property for free, and mistakenly believed that the situation was different.
He later said that if he knew he was going to film a music video at his home, he would have charged him like other celebrities.
The mansion reportedly has a history of celebrity rentals, previously leased by Justin Bieber and featured in a Logan Paul music video. In light of Cardi’s “What What” video’s exposure and popularity, the owner sought damages in excess of $35,000.
