Exclusive: The British Independent Film Awards (BIFAS) has launched a second iteration of the 2025 Springboard Programme, supporting UK-based filmmakers working on the second film.
BIFA Springboard, which will be held from May 2025 to February 2026, will support up to 30 directors, producers and writers. Provides access to technical and professional training, mentoring, networking and resources to better equip participants with industry challenges.
Supported by Prime Video. As part of the Prime Video Pathway Initiative, there will be a variety of collaborations with industry partners to support the development, reskills and proficiency of freelancers to ensure newcomers are on the way into the industry.
With further support from Film Finances International, additional support will be provided by the Screenskills Film Skills Fund.
The scheme runs alongside Springboard: Junle Scheme, which selected 14 participants last month.
BIFA Springboards are currently open for applications with a deadline of May 5, 2025.
“In an industry where there is only a small number of first-time authors, producers and directors, and in an industry that creates sophomore characteristics, Springboard’s goals are helping British filmmakers be ambitious and consider long-term, visionary careers with global impact,” said a statement from BIFA.
