Jones was convicted along with his accomplices for the bold theft of a golden toilet from Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill.
The 18-carat sculpture entitled “America” by Italian artist Maurizio Catterrand was valued at nearly £5 million (over $6 million). Jones used the toilet for scouting the day before the robbery, describing the experience as “great.”
On September 14, 2019, he returned before dawn, with at least two accomplices armed with sledgehammers and clover. They shattered the windows, removed the toilet from the pipe in just five minutes, causing considerable flooding when they escaped with a stolen vehicle.

Prosecutor Shan Sanders noted that while he worked on a careful plan for the theft, the perpetrators left a trajectory of forensic evidence, CCTV footage and telephone records that ultimately led to their beliefs.
According to AP News, the stolen toilets have never been recovered, but are believed to have been demolished and sold.

How the robbery team carried out the entire theft process
The artwork previously exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum in New York attracted the attention of US President Donald Trump.
Jones, 39, was convicted of robbery at the Royal Court of Oxford, a crime organized by 40-year-old James Sheen. Sheen had previously pleaded guilty to multiple charges including robbery, conspiracy and transfer of criminal property.
He discussed with Fred Doe about selling stolen items and was called a “car” in a series of text messages. Sheen expressed that he has an advantage, saying, “I can sell that car for you in two seconds…come tomorrow.”

DOE, also known as 36-year-old Frederick Singh, was convicted of conspiracy to transfer criminal property. Additionally, the ju judges found Bora Guccuk, 41, innocent, the fourth individual involved in the plot.
