Teen Sets Wild Guinness World Record Thanks To ‘Werewolf Syndrome’

Lalit putter18-year-old from India achieved something unusual Guinness World Records Thanks to his rare condition called hyperdermatosis, which causes excessive hair growth in the body to have the “most hairy face”.

Lalit Patider’s face boasts an astounding 201.72 hair per square centimeter, winning the Guinness World Record title in February.

“I’m speechless,” Patider said after receiving the recognition. “I’m so happy to have this recognition that I don’t know what to say.”

According to a Guinness World Records official, the excess symptoms known as “werewolf syndrome,” are extremely rare, with only about 50 documented cases since the Middle Ages. Patider’s condition is that 95% of his face is covered with hair.

“Lalit is one of roughly 50 documented cases reported worldwide since the Middle Ages, making it one in 1 billion,” Guinness World Records said on its website.

“It’s very rare that people aren’t treating me well. Most people are good for me. It depends on the person. The first day of school wasn’t that good.

Patider is now proud of him, but he wasn’t always easy to travel.

He recalls his early student days when fellow students first scared him. “They were scared of me, but when they first started talking to me when they first got to know me, they realised I wasn’t that different from them,” he explained. “The only thing I looked different was the outside, but I’m not different inside.”

Despite suggesting he should shave his face hair, Patider remains immobilized in his self-acceptance. “I don’t have much to say to people about that,” he said. “I tell them I like myself and I don’t want to change my appearance.”

The inspiring teenage story has earned him a huge following on social media, and he shares his journey with over 260,000 followers on Instagram, with many encouraging his teens and supporting him on his journey.

He also appeared on the Italian show Lo Show Dei Record, where his facial hair was measured for official records.

Sharing his pride, Patider posted a photo on March 8th with the caption “I’m proud” of the Guinness World Record Certificate.

“Werewolf syndrome” in babies related to hair growth treatment, officials say

European health authorities have identified a link between minoxidil use, common hair growth treatments, and a rare condition known as infant “werewolf syndrome.” This phenomenon, which causes excessive hair growth, appeared in April 2023 when a boy from Navarah in northern Spain began to develop hair on his back, legs and thighs over two months.

According to the Pharmacy Sex Center in Navara, the father of the toddler used 5% minoxidil lotion on his scalp to treat hair loss while caring for his son at home. Once the exposure to the drug stopped, the baby’s symptoms began to regress.

Further research has discovered 10 hyperpathic cases commonly referred to as “wolf syndrome” in babies in Europe, commonly referred to as “wolf syndrome,” which are associated with all minoxidil use. In each case, the condition improved when the parents stopped treatment.

Health experts take caution when using minoxidil products around young children, highlighting the need for thorough hand washing and careful storage to prevent accidental exposure.
