pitch: The setting of events depicted in 10,000 years before the appearance of Paul Atreides Sand Dunes Movie franchise, Dune: Prophecy It brings us back first – almost. The new HBO sci-fi show, scheduled to premiere on Sunday, November 17th, focuses on Valya Harkonnen (Emily Watson), the mother of Rising Bene Gesserit, a mysterious and powerful sisterhood that manages the Empire from Shadow.
Sisters of sisters: Legend Sand Dunes It’s broad and can be very confusing for those who haven’t digged Frank Herbert’s books (and still confused) I have it I’m doing that); Dune: Prophecy Especially based on novels Sisters of the Dunesco-written by Frank Herbert’s sons Brian and Kevin J. Anderson. The story is set shortly after humanity barely won the war with the rebellious “thinking machine,” and Harkonen is not a fan of the Dennis Villeneuve movie surname. Harkonen was betrayed by the Atreiz clan on the last day of the war, betrayed by the final days of the war, depicted as being present in the cow of Wos.
That’s where Valya and Tula Halkonen (Olivia Williams) appear. The two sisters are allied by blood, but when they move forward they divide their goals. Varya is driven by rage and desire for revenge against Atreid, but Tula is a more patient person in the order dedicated to training young Acorites on the planet of Wallach.
However, it is Valya who serves the Emperor (Mark Strong) in navigating the Alliance Via Marriage of his daughter (Sara Sophie Buznina) and in managing the spice harvest with his wife (Jodie May) and his charming son (Josh Hooton). However, when a mysterious member of the emperor’s army arrives with a divine story at Arachis, disrupting the flow, Varia and her followers are called to intervene.
Our plans are measured over centuries: Now it may sound like a lot of expositions, and because that’s the case. The good news for those who may be overwhelmed by the number of characters they are playing is probably reassuring to know that Dune: Prophecy Visually appealing, the Battle House offers energy reminiscent of shows like game of thrones. The huge ensemble cast is electric, and once the story overcomes the challenge of establishing a vast number of names, titles, rules and motivations, the series quickly makes its advances.
10,000 years teeth For a long time – this writer initially finds himself a little distracted by the idea that the dominant houses and surnames remain the same for 100th century. It’s a bit hard to believe… I remember that until I remember this is exactly the purpose of the group, I was eventually known as the Bene Gesserit, who can control the lineage, plan the lineage, and plan as much as possible in advance.
Let’s spice flowOverall, the strength of the ensemble is one of the most attractive aspects Dune: Prophecyand there are no weak links between them. As depicted by Jessica Baden and Emma Canning, the younger counterpart of Halkonen’s sisters has considerable power, but Chris Mason confidently laid the foundations of the Atlaid Line as a clever sword master named Kieran.
Acolite training grounds provide one of the richest environments in the show. Overall, being in this world is a joy, but the story is almost entirely driven by women. One standout from the younger generation of sisters is Chloe Lee as Lila. This is especially important for the future of sisterhood, especially talented trainees.
These episodes are long and full of details and most of the time don’t feel like a barrier. Four of the six episodes of the season have been offered to critics, and tensions are consistently increasing. The motivations are carefully revealed. Duplicate people are not masked. As Episode 3 climbs up to the young Halkonen sisters, the story is not told completely – the species of Harkonen’s final and complete villain nature is visible, but unlike the sympathy given to someone like Anakin Skywalker in the film before another universe.
verdict: Even if there are very few creatives who can provide visuals like Denis Villeneuve Can, fans of recent film installations will enjoy extensive worldbuilding and detailed, perfectly designed set pieces. Dune: Prophecy. Additionally, fans of the book may be happy with their approach to materials, which is well known for being difficult to adapt.
Then there’s a demographic that I’ve never seen a movie and couldn’t care about the book, but I love the epics of Grand Sci-Fi. Filmed throughout Hungary and Jordan Dune: Prophecy It makes great use of Speauring Loceles, providing a refreshing respite from heavy CGI programs. Here, things feel realistic, from stakes to warm lighting halls and even the mystical powers of sisterhood. Buckle up, everyone – we’re back to the stars.
