Sonya Cassidy about Stephen Elliott’s death in Reacher Season 3 Episode 5
Daniel David Stewart, a rookie DEA agent Stephen Elliott, a member of Duffy’s team, is killed in Reacher Season 3 Episode 5. Elliott makes a fatal mistake in John Cooper’s (Ronnie Lowe)’s slow demand to give him a cigarette. When Elliott catches light, Cooper spits out alcohol at him and burns his face. The bodyguard then stomps on his face many times to kill Elliot. While talking to TVLine, Cassidy called Elliott’s death “terrifying” and explained how it would affect Duffy and the rest of her team.
“I can’t imagine losing one of your team, someone who was very young…” Cassidy said, adding that in his investigation into Anthony Michael Hall’s Zachary Beck and Brian Tee’s Xavier Quinn, “it’s also a tragic indication of where they are at that point.”
Cassidy went on to note that her character and her team are dying and losing to her enemy and not approaching finding Duffy’s Citelesa. She added: “At that moment we’re at the intersection with Duffy. She says, ‘Would I continue this? How long will I try?’ But she’s so determined and driven, so “He’s not that for anything, let’s do this.”
Despite the set-up, Cassidy said Duffy is still determined to finish her mission. “‘I (Duffy) is not separated from this. I couldn’t leave, I lost the young man’s life and hadn’t found Theresa yet,” she said.
